A hard-working DRTV advert for Bluebird Care’s TV debut

For their first ever foray into TV advertising Bluebird Care, an elderly ‘care in the home’ provider, put their trust in Happy Hour. We came up with a hard-working DRTV commercial to raise awareness of their brand and drive traffic to their website.

They wanted a warm, informative advert that showcases the wide range of their services to the families of people who may need in-home care. From popping in to help a few times a day, to companionship, to full live-in care, Bluebird Care does it all.

Bluebird Care wanted to test whether TV was a viable advertising channel for them, so they needed a DRTV advert that could deliver results. They had the goal of reaching a new audience of children of elderly people who might need Bluebird Care’s services. The messaging speaks directly to them and emphasises that they understand and support families.

Often Bluebird Care’s buyers have a sense of guilt about not being able to care for their parents due to busy lives, distance away from them, all exacerbated by the pandemic. This meant our creative needed a warm and reassuring tone. We had scenes of the carer providing care, conversation, companionship, playing games and keeping in touch with the family – via FaceTime of course! All to demonstrate how a Bluebird Care carer becomes part of the extended family. Bluebird Care’s own Marketing Director even appeared in the ad.

The TV campaign will initially run for three months, supported with nationwide digital, social and a Pay Per Click campaign.

As well as creating and producing the advert, Happy Hour provided a one stop shop for them, which included the media buy and social media assets.  

In the first month since airing Bluebird Care have seen an increase of new visitors to their website of 27% as well as significant rises in visits from their target audience. They’re also seeing an uplift from their PPC campaign, organic traffic, and social media. So it’s safe to say, we’re pretty chuffed with this one.

Happy Hour have been a breeze to deal with. Something that is quite complicated behind the scenes was made to feel like a walk in the park. They handled everything with ease: script writing, storyboarding, actor recruitment, licence fees, substantiations and approvals, wardrobe, edits, final clearance, delivery and ultimately results analysis – which have been incredible.  Even the refreshments on-set were top-class.
