Showcasing the sensible and the spontaneous in our TV ad for Trussle

We’re thrilled to introduce the new brand response TV ad campaign for Trussle, the online mortgage broker which launched this weekend.

The new creative, by Happy Hour, calls on home owners to do the sensible thing: switch and save on their mortgage.

It opens with Jenny and James, a thoroughly sensible couple who have saved £4,000 a year by using Trussle to switch and monitor their mortgage. Flush from their recent saving, Jenny and James splurge on a rococo style painting of themselves – in thrilling and spontaneous defiance of their usual sensible selves.

The campaign is aimed at home owners, encouraging them to switch and save on their mortgage. By sparing two minutes and signing up to Trussle’s free mortgage monitoring service, borrowers can check if they’re on the right mortgage product and relax knowing that their mortgage is being proactively monitored.. Trussle will alert home owners and guide them through the switching process when the time is right.

The ad was filmed in Bristol, directed by Michael Wright with all production and post-production handled in-house.

For Happy Hour the challenge was clear: as an agency specialising in brand response TV, it was our job to balance the personality of the brand itself with a clear focus on customer acquisition.

Getting stuck into the brief, we recognised that getting a mortgage or remortgaging can feel like a dark art, often laborious and difficult to navigate. Trussle provides the antidote to this, the better way, the more sensible way, and so the idea for the “sensible” campaign was born.”

Happy Hour draws up a new campaign for Staedtler

Happy Hour are pleased to showcase our latest cinema advert, it marks our first campaign with stationery giant Staedtler, and with creative agency DB Communications. The advert ‘Prodigy’ depicts a tender moment of friendship between an architect grandfather and his grandson, united by their shared love of drawing with their trusty Staedtler pencils, and the creativity that inspires.

The ad was shot on location in Bristol and was the first time we have worked with Director of Photography Mark Stubbs, whose work includes adverts for Ikea. This Nordic look was used for this advert giving it a clean, contemporary feel in line with the re-vamped carbon neutral pencils.

The family friendly advert highlights the Noris Colour tag line ‘the next generation of colouring pencils.’ Which was also played upon in the closing lines, it’s good to see kids who are “too often drawn to screens” still enjoying drawing on paper.

Colin McIvor, the director of the advert explained the premise, “Staedtler Noris ‘Prodigy’ was a simple, clear and confident brief – to capture a life memory in a moment of close friendship across the years through their love of creating art. Essentially I wanted an elegant, free and easy ‘quiet camera’ allowing the performances from the colouring pencils and the actors to live front and centre. All departments excelled to deliver an extremely professional and enjoyable on set experience resulting in a distinctive, slick cinema commercial to be proud of.”

Staedtler is a stationery giant, formed in 1835, its products are synonymous with quality and innovation. Their Noris pencil range is recognisable worldwide especially due to its popularity in schools.

 

SunLife sponsors Big Star’s Little Star

We’ve produced a series of idents for SunLife’s new sponsorship deal with top ITV show Big Star’s Little Star.

Big Star’s Little Star revolves around celebrities and their young children or grandchildren answering questions to win money for charity. The idents mimic this format, pairing a parent with a child who offers embarrassing answers to questions about the parent.

This sponsorship deal is perfect for SunLife with Big Star’s Little Star being the ideal fit for the family brand. The emphasis in the idents is on younger families, which reflects SunLife’s recent move to focus more on this section of the market. The timing coincides with the launch of several new products aimed at younger people, such as ISAs and life insurance for 18-59 year olds.

The full series of idents, directed by Jason Edwards, include a 15 second intro, four 10 second centre break bumpers and a 5 second outro, all reflecting SunLife’s new simpler branding. The idents are running from the 4th March 2015 for six weeks and have already received good press coverage, including in Campaign, Brand Republic and Marketing Week.
